1. What makes us unique is our willingness to pick up your donated items, and we make this very easy and safe for you to do. You can contact us through our online form or by calling, texting, or emailing us. Once your request has been made and pick up date and time determined, you can easily tag your bags and items, place them in a predetermined place outside (weather permitting), and the 2nd Helping staff members will pick it up. This eliminates the need for busy individuals to stay home and wait for a pick up, and it also makes it feel safer for single women who may not feel comfortable answering a door to a stranger regardless of the reason. Directions outlining how to tag items will be included in the donation section of this website.
For drop-off, we are currently organizing several convenient locations through the Charlotte Metro Area. These drop off areas will be posted to this website as they become available, but are currently not confirmed and available.
2. Print and fill out out the 2nd Helping Donation form you will find here. Print a copy of your receipt for your records.
3. Once donations are processed through 2nd Helping, local charities will receive your generous donations. This "2nd helping" of donations will be provided by 2nd Helping to those organizations and individuals demonstrating most need.
Each year thousands of Americans, mostly children, go without the basic essentials to sustain them at home, work and school. This is not just a national problem. Charlotte has its share of people who are in need of these basic necessities.
2nd Helping is a volunteer-based organization in Charlotte, North Carolina. Our mission is to collect gently used clothing and other items to donate to local charities and children and adults in need. We work to support local and national charities by working to locate donations and facilitating the transport of those items into the hands of the people who need them most.
We are hopeful you will assist us in our goal. If you would like to make a donation, please fill out the form available on our website. You are also welcome to call or text us. We will be glad to come to you to pick up items that you no longer have a need for, but would benefit someone else and their families.
